If you buy one, the minute you pull it out of the box you'll know you spent way too much on it. Sorry Gene, but this thing is crap. It's flimsy plastic and feels like your going to break it if you handle it much. I wish I had done more research before making the purchase. It looks cool, was a great idea, but the company that made this should refund everyone there money. I bought it, and after I had to modify it to meet my needs, this Axe shall hang on the wall in the game room. That's about all that can be said, buy one for yourself, you will see, you'll say @#$% I should listened to that guy.Hope this might help someone out there.
We bought this for to use with our Rock Band games however, it didn't work for all of the different Rock Band games. It just is big and harder to play than the guitar that comes with Guitar Hero. The looks of it is pretty cool. My 14 year old daughter loved it. I actually wouldn't recommend it unless you want it more for the looks. The Guitar Hero guitar is much easier to use and more comfortable.
The guitar is awesome looking and, being bigger than other wii guitars, was easier to play because of it's size. Same thing happened again. Unfortunately, the green key always stuck and you couldn't play the thing. Sent it back and got a replacement. The green key kept sticking (although not as bad this time). Gave up and sent the replacement back for a refund.
But it is DEFINATELY made better - meaning this thing is made with better materials and could take some abuse. I know, real rock gods do not sit while playing. Size-wise, it's taller than any of the Rock Band or Guitar Hero controllers we have; a little shy of the length of a real guitar. It was either going to be an awesome buy or one of the worst buys that I've made - and I'm glad it was the first. As far as controllers go, I gotta admit. But I realy don't have anything bad to say about the guitar controller itself. Now I gotta admit, I have been a fan of KISS for over 30 years and I may be a little biased; but I honestly think a fan of KISS and Wii music games would love this controller. The only thing that takes a little getting used to is the axe blade on the bottom - digs into the leg if not held right while sitting down. The strum is more accurate than the originals, but does not have the solo buttons or slide neck that the Rock Band and Guitar Hero controllers do, but I don't miss them.
One complaint I do have; the ad is not very specific as to which game versions it is compatible for. Not that I am the abusive-to-controllers type. I was impressed. But after a long day on my feet, I don't fee like standing while playing. I was always affraid to "let loose" on the original controllers; but not this controller. Buttons-wise, it is laid out more like a Guitar Hero controller. I know anything after Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero 3 you are OK. And if you are not a fan of KISS but want a high quality, upgraded controller for your Wii music games, this is it.
The outside shell of the guitar was cheap. When I opened the box, realized that it was one that had already been returned to Amazon. Received this product with the expectation of actually using it as an extra guitar for rock band 2. The buttons were noisy and hard to push. That should have been my first clue. Took the product out of the box, and was really dismayed at the lack of any quality. This is truly a piece of junk. Do not buy unless you want to hang it on your wall.
